How to get to Hillside
By car
Wightlink offer a car ferry service from Portsmouth - Fishbourne and Lymington - Yarmouth.
Red Funnel offer car ferry from Southampton - East Cowes.
Hillside are happy to make reservations on the ferries and can provide competetive prices.
Arriving with the ferry in Fishbourne from Portsmouth - just follow the traffic off the ferry to the first traffic lights where you turn left and follow the A3054 eastwards towards Ryde. When you see the sign for Sandown follow the A3055 road all the way via Sandown and Shanklin to Ventnor & Bonchurch where you turn right onto the B3327. After a few hundred meters you will find Hillside on your right just above the tennis courts going up Mitchell Avenue. The journey is approximately 16 miles and takes about 30 minutes.
The Yarmouth ferry comes straight to the A3054 which you follow east towards Newport. At the roundabout go via the A3020 south through Godshill and turn right along the B3327 towards Ventnor. Hillside is on your left side coming down Mitchell Avenue. The journey is approximately 21 miles and takes about 35 minutes.
Coming via East Cowes head for the A3021 going south. At the roundabout turn right towards Newport on the A3054. When you reach Newport continue going south on the A3020 through Godshill. A few miles outside Godshill turn right along the B3327 towards Ventnor. Hillside is on your left side coming down Mitchell Avenue. The journey is approximately 16 miles and takes about 30 minutes.
On foot from Portsmouth
Hovercraft from Southsea to Ryde. When arriving at the Portsmouth Harbour station walk stragiht out and follow the signs to Isle of Wight ferries and board the hovertravel from Portsmouth Southsea to Ryde. www.hovertravel.co.uk Telephone: 02392 81 1000. The journey takes around 12 minutes. Just outside the the hover terminal in Ryde you will find taxi and busses.
Fastcat from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier. The Wightlink fastcat catamaran from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde taking about 18 minutes. Arriving at Ryde Pier you can either take a taxi or the train to Ryde.
At Ryde bus station you can take bus 3 which will go straight to Hillside. It will take about 40 minutes and you should ask for the bus to stop just after Hillside so you walk downhill.
Alternatively you can take a taxi straight from the ferry which will cost you in the region of £18 and take about 20 minutes.

On foot from Southampton
The Redjet from Southampton to West Cowes takes 15 minutes and costs approximately £17. When in East Cowes take the bus 4 to Ryde and change to bus 3 which will take you straight to Ventnor and Hillside - ask the driver to stop just after Hillside so you walk downhill.
Or you can take a taxi which will take you 25 minutes and costs approximately £20

Buses on the island
Southern Vectis offer a reliable bus service. They operate every 20 minutes and drive you around the whole island. You can buy week tickets or daily tickets which gives you geater flexibility during your stay. The bus route coming to Hillside either from East or West is www.islandbuses.co.uk and you can find the actual plan on the same site.
By air
Arriving on the Isle of Wight you can either land in Sandown Airport - 01983 405125 or the slightly bigger and tarmacked Bembridge Airport - 01983 873331 - www.eghj.com. Good airports with attractive landing fees. From there you can easily get a taxi - we recommend either RJ's at 854572, B&B's at 855181 or Ryde Taxi at 811111 - all with the areacode 01983.
If arriving by helicopter you can obviously use the above facilities or use the Heliports at our local golf club www.ventnorgolfclub.co.uk from where you have just a few hundred yards to Hillside.
